Allergies and Asthma

Many people have established allergies to mould and other microbial irritants. Exposure to these products causes an allergic reaction. There are allergic conditions known as Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis, or Humidifier Fever. These can effect people who have no history of allergies, and illness may develop immediately or over a period of weeks or months. Symptoms vary greatly with some experiencing chest tightness, laboured breathing and coughing, while others have Flu type symptoms with various pains and fatigue.

Besides the allergy sufferers, there are many people who suffer from asthma. Very commonly, asthma attacks may be brought on by the contaminates found in the air-conditioning systems including dust, dust mites, micro-organisms, fungal spores and blooms. Precautions taken to remove these contaminates from the living or working environment are futile, unless the air-conditioning system is also clean. Re-infection in the normal building environment will be almost immediate if conditions exit in the duct work to sustain the contaminants. As mentioned earlier, asthma attacks can be fatal. Indeed, asthma kills more people over the world than AIDS and diabetes sufferers at least temporarily.
