Fibreglass
Fibreglass is used extensively throughout the majority of air conditioning systems. Duct work is either internally insulated or externally insulated with this material. It is known that fiberglass, is likely to break down with time allowing fibres to be distributed by the air stream through the system and into the general environment of the building. It is clear however, the presence of fiberglass in air handling systems is not safe. Fibreglass can cause prolonged upper respiratory discomfort.
